The following written questions have been received from Members:

(31)      Councillor McNair- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

The council plans to set up an external independent investigation (para 2.3).  How will its independence be guaranteed if supervised by Cabinet?

(32)      Councillor Meadows- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

Will ex-councillors and officers from 2006 onwards be obliged to participate?

(33)      Councillor McNair- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

While the bid is of a commercially sensitive nature, and the council’s hands seem to be tied with regard to consultation and righting off of the debt if the council is to find a buyer.  Should the buyer be alerted to interest payments due to the council tax payers.

(34)      Councillor Meadows- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

What does writing off of the debt actually mean for council tax payers and council services?

(35)      Councillor McNair- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

What share of revenue or percentage is the council expected to receive and from when?

(36)      Councillor Meadows- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

While this might be regarded as sensitive, surely residents of Brighton & Hove deserve to be kept fully informed of this sale and what it will mean for their council tax payments.  Or is the Administration putting the council in more debt?

(37)      Councillor McNair- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

Given the debt repayments of £2.2m per year until 2041, what services can residents expect to be cut?

(38)      Councillor Meadows- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

If there is any revenue what services will that share of revenue be directed towards?

(39)      Councillor Sykes- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

Will there be published Terms of Reference to steer the proposed investigation into the i360 loan decision?

(40)      Councillor Sykes- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

The paper refers to (s4.4) options assessments undertaken about the future of the i360. Was the overall economic preferred option assessed different to that being proposed in the paper?

(41)      Councillor Goldsmith- Brighton i360- Decision on Future

What has the Council been doing so far to communicate with local businesses around the i360 – many of whom recognise the impact the attraction has on their footfall – and what will it be doing to communicate throughout the process of a new buyer being found and put into place?
